A veteran in the New England rock/metal scene, Matthew developed his singing chops by fronting some popular local area bands over the late 90′s and early 2000′s. Strongly influenced by the vocal stylings of Jay Berdnt from RI legends “Kilgore”, Matthew began to develop his own signature baritone style as the years progressed. Growing up during the “grunge” era (with their many classic vocalists leading the charge) definitely had a lifelong effect musically on Matthew. As the years went on Soul music and Southern Rock also became major contributors in developing his vocal style.
As the music developed, the lyrical direction focused more towards the “darker side” of life tackling issues regarding depression, negativity, and overall apathy to the trials and tribulations of everyday life. But always with the underlying positive message that refuge could be found in the music and the songs would serve as a voice to all those who dealt with similar issues.
